Darjeeling Gangtok sample itinerary
Day 1
Arrive at the New Jalpaiguri station at 0300 hrs. Transfer to Siliguri by coach at 0530 hrs. After freshening up and breakfast at a restaurant in Siliguri, depart for Gangtok . Arrive at the hotel in late afternoon. Check into rooms and lunch. Evening visit the M.G.Road market and Lal Market. Return to hotel for dinner & stay.
Day 2
After breakfast depart for excursion to Changu Lake. This serene lake is situated at an altitude of 12400 feet above sea level. The lake is about a kilometer long, oval shaped and 15 mts deep. This placid lake remains frozen during the winter months. Also visit the Harbajan Singh Baba Mandir. Return to hotel for lunch by 1530 hrs. Evening at leisure to visit the local markets. Dinner & night stay at the hotel.
Day 3

After breakfast leave for half day sight seeing of Gangtok and nearby places of interest. The visit includes Flower Exhibition, Institute of Tibetology and the famous Rumtek Monastery, 24 kms from Gangtok, which is one of the most important monasteries of Tibetan Buddhist Sects. After lunch at the hotel, depart for Darjeeling at 1430 hrs. Arrive hotel in Darjeeling by 1930 hrs. Room allocation and settling in. Dinner & night stay at the hotel.
Day 4
After breakfast walk down to The Lloyds Botanical Garden, Mahakal Temple atop the Observatory Hill and Chowrasta / The Mall. Return to the hotel for lunch. After lunch visit Gangmaya Park and Rock Garden by sumos/jeeps. Return to the hotel in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 5
Early morning depart at 0300 hrs by sumos/jeeps for Tiger Hill to view the internationally renowned sunrise over the 3rd highest peak in the world – Mount Kanchendjonga. Also visit Ghoom Monaastery and Batasia Loop & Gorkha War Memorial. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Rest of the morning free at leisure / for resting. After lunch visit places of interest in and around Darjeeling covering The Japanese Buddhist Temple and Peace Pagoda, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) and Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park, Tibetan Self Help Refugee Center (witness the Tibetans’ skill at making various handicraft items) and a Tea Estate. Return to the hotel for dinner and night stay.
Day 6

After breakfast depart at 0900 hrs for the Pashupati Nagar Market (in Nepal) to shop for custom goods. Proceed  to the lovely Mirik Lake. Mirik is famous for its beautiful views of Kanchendzonga and Orange and Cardamom Orchards. Lunch at a hotel in Mirik. Enjoy boating and horse riding (optional & on payment) around the lovely lake. Also hike upto the Mirik Monastery, perched on top of a small hill, with beautiful views of the Mirik Valley. Depart for New Jalpaiguri at 1800 hrs. Enroute stop for dinner at a restaurant in Siliguri. Board 4055 Brahamputra Mail at 2200 hrs for Delhi. Overnight travel in the train.
